Hugh Kenneth Lapage's medal collection now on OPAC

Hugh Lapage was Principal Assistant at the Museum 1979-80. Mr Lapage, who sadly died in 2006, was also a collector of medals, and by the generosity of his heiress his collection came to the Museum in 2007. It is now available on the Museum's OPAC. Mr Lapage's collection was especially strong in awards of the Second World War, and therefore complements the Watson Collection, whose last acquisitions were in 1937. There are also many miniature medals, for wear on non-dress uniform, and sweetheart badges and regimental brooches, all of which have their own story to tell about the soldiers, sailors and aircraftmen who wore them or gave them to others. The collection also includes Lapage's own medals, making this upload a particular tribute to a former staff member who served his country. Thanks are due with this upload to Andy Woods.
