Sandstone relief possibly representing Amenirdas

Probably representing Amenirdas, sister of King Shabaka, or her successor Shepenwepet. The subject wears a vulture headdress and crown of Amun, identifying her as a goddess. From the Eighteenth Dynasty some royal women were ‘married’ to the god Amun, taking the title ‘God’s Wife’. This role gave the holder political power as well as divine status
