April - Book of the Dead of Ramose

April's Object of the Month - The Book of the Dead of Ramose can be seen in the current exhibition, Death on the Nile. Egyptian Books of the Dead were provided as part of a person's burial to ensure their safety in the afterlife. The collection of spells, were often written on papyrus, a paper like material made from a plant of the same name. The owner of this papyrus is called Ramose, the supervisor of royal archives. The illustrations are particularly vivid, some covered in gold.
